A TeenPact Before and After Story
Kari Daws, an alumna from Texas, attended TeenPact’s Staff Training for the first time in January of this year. While attending this event where Staffers are trained and prepared to lead State Classes, Kari shared her TeenPact story.
Kari’s TeenPact experience begins like many other teens. She was reluctant to attend TeenPact even though some of her close friends had been encouraging her for seven or eight years to do so. Kari relates,
“I finally gave in two years ago and I’m so glad I did! The only thing I regret is not getting involved sooner.”
“TeenPact has impacted me as a leader and a follower of Christ in many ways. TeenPact has taught me that if I rely on my own strength, my feet will fail. But, if I rely on God’s strength and allow Him to move through me, there are no limits to what can be accomplished. Also, I have learned through this ministry that as a fallen human, I am inadequate to lead. The Lord, however, acknowledges that and still desires to use His children as a part of His beautiful plan, which is such an incredible blessing. TeenPact has taught me that the only way I can be a qualified leader is by being an intimately close follower of Christ, never letting go of His hand.”
Kari explains why she felt compelled to apply to be a Staffer, even when she did not feel adequate. “Closely following the Lord and pursuing a relationship with Him looks like daily surrender to His will. Applying for staff and attending Staff Training was that act of surrender for me. I felt incredibly inadequate to apply for staff. But when I felt His prompting, I knew I needed to take that leap of faith. One of the most impactful lessons I’ve learned is that God doesn’t call the equipped, but rather, He equips the called. The Lord helped me understand that I needed to take this step of faith, then He would prepare me.”
After highschool, Kari is considering several options–possibly pursuing a degree in nursing or studying worship leadership at a local college. She explains how she will decide her next steps:
“I am lifting all these things unto the Lord and am praying for His guidance and direction.”
