TeenPact’s Media event helps prepare future leaders to have the character and skills needed to compellingly communicate God’s truth and beauty through all forms of media and other creative arts.
In its third year, this Alumni Event continues to draw creative students who desire to learn and practice skills of excellent communication while also exploring career opportunities in various fields of media. Throughout the week, TeenPact leaders helped students connect biblical teaching about the nature and purpose of communications, creative arts, and media – with the ultimate goal of equipping these talented young people with the skills and biblical mindset needed to engage the culture for Christ.
Below, students who participated in Media share what they learned from their experiences.
- I learned incredible life skills in the field of marketing, made lifelong friends, and was incredibly moved by Event Director Jeff Jimmerson’s evening sessions on wisdom and pride. The Lord really used his speaking to motivate me to real repentance and better awareness of my own struggles with pride and how that affects my relationship with God.
- I loved being able to evaluate my talents and see where they may take me as a career.
- This was an amazing week! I had so much fun connecting with all the students, the staff, and all the other leaders at the event. I definitely appreciated being stretched a little bit outside my comfort zone to complete the project by the due-date. Also, it was really fun exploring a field that I’m very much interested in. The Bonjour and Rendezvous were great, and the week really helped me continue to analyze what worshiping God with my works really means and how I can do that in my everyday life.
- The worship has brought me closer to God.
- What an amazing staff team and community at Media! I really enjoyed the amount of time that we had to bond with everyone and the connections I made. Mr. Jimerson’s talks were very enlightening and helpful!
- Honestly, Media was great! I loved being able to learn and communicate. I took the videography track. The knowledge I learned has greatly improved my understanding and overall passion for the art of videography as well.
- Media helped me gain an understanding of potential career fields I may be interested in [pursuing].
- The Lord used Cannon’s devo on James 1:3-4 to show me the good in the things I was struggling with. Prior to Media, I’d been struggling with trusting and obeying the Lord. It seemed like the Lord was asking me to do things that were too hard. Through Cannon’s devo, I was able to see that the Lord is stronger than those hard tasks. When I come up against things that are difficult, I can be glad because I get to see the Lord’s power at work.
- I learned so much about videography and about working as a team of creatives.
- It helped me to realize that God talking is not just “noise” and that we are not alone in our trials and hard times.
- [Attending this event] has deepened my relationship with the Lord and made me realize how much I need Him and how grateful I am. I also made new friends and learned a lot about photography.
- I’m better at graphic design and feel closer to Jesus [after participating in Media].
- I grew closer to God. And because it was a smaller event I feel like I got to know more friends.
- It helped me see what I do and don’t want to do as a career in the future. I learned about myself, and what kind of work environments I might be able to thrive in. It also gave me more [experiences and skills] to add to my resume.
- I learned a lot about graphic design and how to better work on a team. I also was able to grow in my relationship with Christ.
- Media was 100% worth going to. I grew spiritually, gained skills that I’ll be able to use in real life, and was refreshed by the friendships built.
- I’m so thankful for such an incredible week!
