Please meet in the Howlett Building Auditorium by 12:45pm on Monday, March 23rd. Please do NOT bring ANY luggage with you into the Capitol.
Political Communication Workshop and One Day Class
Please meet in the Howlett Building Auditorium by 9:45am on Friday, March 27th.
What to Bring
To the Capitol:
- Your completed homework with your name on each page
- A Bible, notebook, pen, and umbrella
- Please see below for meal plan information
- Please review our dress code before attending the class
What NOT to Bring:
- Any sort of knife or firearm
- CD players, iPods, etc.
Parking & Directions
Free parking is offered in the Visitor’s Center, located at College and Edwards. Meter parking is also available on the streets (there is a cost on all meters). There are 9 hour meters on Monroe in front of Stratton Building. Please beware of meter hours (they vary between 2, 5, 9 hour meters).
TeenPact Illinois parents and students are invited to stay at the Baymont Inn and Suites, located at 5871 South 6th Street, Springfield. Rooms are available for $72.99 + tax and must be reserved by April 10, 2014. Please call 217-529-6655 to make your reservation; ask for the “TeenPact Family Block” to receive this special rate. A complimentary hot breakfast is included.
Note: Please remember that TeenPact is not responsible for the safety and supervision of students after class dismisses in the afternoon. We ask that all attendees staying at the hotel have adult supervision.
Meal Plan Information
Students and parents are encouraged to participate in a coordinated meal plan this year. Four Day class lunches/student committee meetings will be held at Central Baptist Church, 501 S. 4th St., Springfield, IL with Subway lunches to be delivered at lunch time. If you prefer to bring your own sack lunch, that is fine, just take note that we will not be eating in the Capitol Cafeteria.
Dinners will be served at 5:30p.m. after Ultimate Frisbee and before the Evening Session. Monday dinner will be a Pizza Buffet provided by Godfather’s Pizza, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will include hearty, hot, home-cooked menus including dessert.
Choose the plan that will best serve your family, and as always, you are welcome to arrange or bring your own meals. Students may sign up for the meal plan when completing class registration.
Parents attending TeenPact can also sign up for the meal plan of their choice by emailing Lori Gaines at firstname.lastname@example.org.

In addition to the time at the Capitol, TeenPact offers evening sessions that give students the opportunity to relax and fellowship with like-minded peers in a more casual environment. Students play games, participate in small groups, play Ultimate Frisbee, enjoy a time of worship, and are challenged by a message from the Class Director. Evening sessions are an integral part of the TeenPact experience, allowing students to combine the academic emphasis at the Capitol with a spiritual focus on students’ relationships with God and one another.
Evening sessions are optional and are held Monday-Wednesday at Southern View Chapel at no additional cost. Located at 4500 S 2nd Street, the church is a short 2 mile drive from the Baymont and will be the location for all post-class activities. We look forward to seeing you there!
