Parent Registration

For parents who would like to stay at the camp we are trying to be as flexible as we can in accommodating you, while also making sure we have enough room for parents who are able to volunteer to assist us at the camp. Currently we are in need of chaperones, drivers and cooks. Please contact me if you would like to fill any of those positions. We have more space for dads than we do for moms who would like to attend, but would not have to fill a volunteer slot. Before you register as a parent, you will need to contact me by email at bethbaxa@gmail.com or by phone at 864-307-9253.

If you are facing the State House on Gervais Street (where Main St. intersects) the Blatt Bldg. is in the far right corner of the complex. The corner of Pendleton St. and Assembly St. is a good place to park. There is metered parking on Assembly St. (BRING LOTS OF QUARTERS if you are staying the week), and a parking garage close by on Assembly St., between Gervais and Lady Streets. Plan to arrive early as parking may delay your arrival.

Housing Information

TeenPact-South Carolina is delighted to announce an optional residential camp for our students this year: Camp Kinard! It will serve as our residential camp for out-of-town TeenPact students and as our evening “home base.” Any Columbia students or those choosing to stay in local hotels are welcome to join us at the camp after classes for dinner, a relaxed time of worship, teaching, recreation and fellowship.

Camp Information:
Camp Kinard is 40 minutes southwest of downtown Columbia just off of I20 at exit 44. Loccated in Batesburg-Leesville, Camp Kinard is an ideal location for retreats, canoeing, conferences, and camps. With 325 acres and numerous facilities, the camp has the space but maintains the intimacy by having everything within walking distance. Camp Kinard is a South Carolina Lutheran Retreat Center directed by Larry Hamrick. The facilities are top-notch and very accomodating. We look forward to seeing you there!

Driving Directions:

(East) For those who are traveling toward Columbia on I20: Get off at exit 39 (US-178 West Fairview Rd). Go back across the interstate and go northwest on US-178 for 4 miles. The cost for Camp Kinard is $130 (3 nights) and $170 (4 nights) for each student and $115 (3 nights) and $150 (4 nights) for each parent chaperone. This includes breakfast, dinner, and lodging.

Meals:
Catered breakfasts and dinners will be served each morning and evening at the camp. For lunches, TeenPact students will be eating at various restaurants in downtown Columbia. Please bring $7-$8 per lunch meal (Tuesday through Thursday, and Friday if staying for the public speaking day).

Arrival Instructions:

Students should drop off luggage at the camp no later than 11:00 a.m. on Monday morning at the Camp Dining Hall. Grab some lunch before heading to the capitol, arriving at the Blatt Bldg by 12:30 on Monday afternoon. Capitol directions will be given to drivers at the camp. Parking is available along the street (BRING QUARTERS!). You can register for the residential camp online when you register for the class.

Departure Instructions:

Parents should come pick up their student’s luggage before 3:00pm on either Thursday (if they are only signed up for the four-day) or Friday (if they are signed up for both the four-day and the public speaking class).
