A Ministry of Excellence

The following are thoughts from Zach and Alexis Kaufman on their experience with TeenPact. After attending as students, Zach and Alexis served as Travel Staffers and Traveling Interns (2016). Zach and Alexis got married in 2018.

Many students heading to their first TeenPact State Class are filled with either fear or excitement. These polarizing expectations were no truer than for Zach and Alexis. Zach’s mom dragged him to the class with heel marks lining the halls. Alexis, on the other hand, excitedly anticipated her first class after hearing raving reviews from a dear friend. All it took to change Zach’s opinion was walking into the class and feeling the energy in the room. Alexis’ first class exceeded even her high hopes.

It did not take long for God to use TeenPact in major ways in both of their lives. On the Wednesday night of Alexis’ first State Class, she was deeply moved by an evening session talk by Class Director Bob Chambers. Through Mr. Chamber’s talk, Alexis realized that she wasn’t living her life passionately for Jesus and taking ownership of her faith. She finally saw that following Jesus should look like a life filled with joy and not just a duty.

Alexis finally saw that following Jesus should look like a life filled with joy and not just a duty.

For Zach, while he was already sold on the Christ-centered excellence he saw his first year as a student, one particular moment stood out in his second year. One evening, Class Director Steve Crum asked the Students to break off into smaller groups to pray. During this time, Zach moved over to Mr. Crum and began to pray. The way Mr. Crum prayed with such detail and specificity made Zach feel as if Mr. Crum, a complete stranger, knew exactly what was weighing on Zach’s heart. This was the first time Zach realized the Holy Spirit is real. No longer was the Holy Spirit just an imaginary afterthought, but an active part of God available through Jesus’ death and resurrection.

These are just two moments Zach and Alexis have seen God impact their lives through the ministry of TeenPact, and it would take too long for them to share all the stories of God working in them and countless other students, parents, and Capitol officials.

Lives are meant to be consumed with a love for Jesus and then, by nature, will pursue all things with excellence.

Zach and Alexis love TeenPact because of its culture to call out and call up the students over the course of the week. TeenPact has been a goal and standard of excellence to draw people out in a matter of days. TeenPact understands that leaders should not be taught excellence just for the sake of excellence. Instead, lives are meant to be consumed with a love for Jesus and then, by nature, will pursue all things with excellence.

If your story with TeenPact is similar, would you consider giving back to this ministry?

What is the #alumnimatch? A former TeenPact Student has very generously offered an opportunity for TeenPact Alumni to have their donations matched until March 31. Matched donations must be from TeenPact Alumni. Up to $12,500 will be matched by our kind donor ($25,000 total for our 25th season).
