NCFCA and TeenPact

Are You a NCFCA Competitor Interested in TeenPact?

The TeenPact State Class is a dynamic, hands-on leadership experience where students learn about state government from a Christian worldview. For students involved in NCFCA, TeenPact’s program provides an opportunity to enhance the skills they have learned in classrooms and competitions. The State Class curriculum is designed to engage the students and encourage them to actively participate. TeenPact has structured the academic program in order to cultivate skills in public speaking, logical thinking, debate, and persuasive writing. Students participate in projects in groups as well as individually throughout the event. Participants also have the opportunity to run for several different offices over the course of the week, thus affording them opportunities to compete with their peers in an immersive experience, using public speaking, debate, and logical thinking skills. NCFCA’s mission statement is: “To challenge and equip ambassadors for Christ to communicate truth with integrity and grace.” TeenPact also upholds these values in its motto: “Changing lives to change the world.” Both ministries clearly support using biblical values to make a difference in the culture and the world. NCFCA students who have attended TeenPact in the past have noted just how beneficial the immersive week of TeenPact can be to the foundation from which they learn each week in NCFCA.

TeenPact offers the State Class in all fifty states across the nation, challenging students to become servant leaders while pointing them to Christ. TeenPact’s mission statement is: “To inspire youth in their relationship with Christ and train them to understand the political process, value their liberty, defend the Christian faith, and engage the culture at a time in their lives when, typically, they do not care about such things.”

State Classes

At TeenPact, we believe students learn best by doing. That is why our State Classes are based on focused, hands-on leadership training. With classes offered across the nation for students ages 8-19, young people will quickly discover how to embrace their call as the next generation of leaders through the unique teaching and opportunities TeenPact provides.

ONE DAY CLASS

The One Day Class (ages 8-12) takes elements from our week-long government class for teenagers and condenses them into one action-packed, exciting day for elementary students. Students will pray for their leaders during a prayer walk, learn how a bill becomes a law, participate in an election, explore the Capitol, and learn parliamentary procedure in a mock legislature where they discuss bills they have written. These as well as many more hands-on, on-site activities will help students understand their state government as well as the impact they can have as Christians and young leaders. The One Day Class is ideal for all aspiring NCFCA students.

FOUR DAY CLASS

Our Four Day Class (ages 13-19) is a fast-paced experience designed to give students the ultimate hands-on crash course in state government. Students learn to find their way around the Capitol, discover where to find bills and how to read them, study and enjoy parliamentary debate, run for a mock office during the week, and meet public officials. By spending four days at the Capitol, TeenPact students get a glimpse of what goes on beyond the marble steps as they get the entire story from elected officials, lobbyists and Capitol staff. While most groups only see the statues and paintings when they come to the Capitol, we want our students to build relationships with the people who actually influence public policy. Each student is challenged to think critically, grow spiritually, and come away with an excellent understanding of the state government and servant leadership, all while having a ton of fun and making new friends. The class is not entirely at the Capitol, though. The highlight for most students is the fun they have attending Evening Sessions where they interact with the staff, play games, participate in worship, and hear from a speaker. The Four Day Class is perfect for all NCFCA competitors who fall in the age range.

POLITICAL COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP

Our Political Communication Workshop (ages 13-19) is designed to give students a better understanding of how to communicate well, especially when it comes to articulating political ideas. Both exciting and educational, this workshop teaches students how to approach controversial issues, think critically, and communicate effectively. NCFCA students will continue developing their public speaking skills by engaging in policy debates, practicing political negotiations, and discussing current events. This event is perfect for all NCFCA competitors between the ages of 13 and 19.

Send the following link to each of your students and encourage them all to sign up through our registration system. Each student’s registration requires some unique information about them, so they each must sign up with their own parent or guardian. The TeenPact Four Day Class occurs Monday through Thursday, with the optional Political Communications Workshop and the One Day Class on Friday. In addition to the on-site days, TeenPact has a list of required pre-class homework which allows the class to count for high school accreditation. The homework is not extensive, and primarily involves research on current events and the national/state government. Completing the homework allows the students to fully participate in the class, and equips them to engage in intelligent discussions about their government after the class. Follow the link below to see a full list of the pre-class homework.
