Hearing the Father’s Voice

Who are you listening to? Who are you seeking your approval from? Are you listening to what the world has to say, or are you listening to the Father’s voice?

There was a time in my walk with the Lord when I didn’t think I was capable of hearing His voice. I didn’t think I was spiritually mature enough. Even when I started to hear Him speak, I would doubt. “Is that just my voice? Am I making this up in my head?”

Friend, there is no certain level you have to reach in order to be “spiritually mature.”  There is no qualifying test you have to pass to hear His voice. However, that was my mindset until He reminded me that He sent His Spirit so that we could commune with Him. It was His gift to us. Anyone can partake in hearing Him speak!

Before the veil was torn, the only way into His presence, the Holy of Holies, was through the High Priest. You and I couldn’t just go sit with God and hear what He had to say to us. It blows my mind every time I think about the fact that we can sit and rest in His presence. That we can talk to Him – have a conversation with God. Take a moment to think about that. It’s crazy.

Have you been struggling with doubt about hearing your Father’s voice?  This is such a beautiful gift from Him, and He delights in you–His child. He wants to talk to you. If you are truly desiring to hear His voice, take a moment and tell Him. Ask Him to speak to you in ways you’ve never heard before. I’ve learned that often, the first thing that can pop into your head is God’s voice. Be still and listen; don’t overthink it.  What He has to say is better than your own voice, and quicker than the lies of doubt saying, “You’re making this up. Those are your own thoughts.”

Are you listening to what the world says about you, or are you seeking God’s Truth about you?

Let’s look at Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.”

He has so many gifts He wants to give you, and doors He wants to open. Are you striving for less of you & more of Him? Ask Him what He wants you to surrender.  Once you’ve surrendered that burden, insecurity, etc., ask Him what He wants to give you in return. Listen for His voice. Sometimes He’ll speak to you through pictures, words, or sometimes He’ll even speak to you audibly! There’s no limit to how or when He’ll meet you.

Friend, your Father truly desires to have a personal relationship with you. It pleases His heart when you go talk to Him. Jeremiah 29:12-13 says, “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” There is no secret to having a conversation with Him or hearing what He has to say. All He asks is that you come willing and eager to be still and listen. He will show up. So, are you ready to hear what your Father has to say?
