This week’s installment of the TeenPact Blog is brought to you by Kailey Silvey (WY). Kailey attended TeenPact Survival Northwest, one of our TeenPact Alumni Events that was held September 11-16 in in Keystone, South Dakota.

A hike in the peaceful woods.
Cooking breakfast over an open campfire.
Making new friends that are now best friends.
Praise and worship under the stars.

Welcome to TeenPact Survival.

I have attended a TeenPact Survival event each of the past several years, and each year I am left amazed. The week offers many dynamic challenges and obstacles to conquer. I can’t spoil any surprises, but new adventures await at every turn. Whether you are working as part of the team effort or striving for never-ending self improvement, you will come away more confident in the skills you have just learned.

Before my first Survival, trusting others was hard for me. However, being stretched out of my comfort zone, especially in regard to teamwork, has shown me that not only I can trust the Lord more deeply, but also that I can trust the mentors and friends that God has placed in my life. As a result, I have been blessed with genuine friendships and teammates from all over the country.

Each day I looked forward to all of the faith based applications. Exploring the Word of God while experiencing His creation gave me a glimpse of how great our One True Creator really is. Analogies came to life and inspiring Scripture often leapt off the pages into my heart simply because of an unobstructed view of the power of God.

One of the greatest revelations for me at Survival has been the importance of true encouragement. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says “Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as you are doing.” We are called to edify others. When you are working on a team, with coworkers, helping at home, or hanging out with friends, an uplifting word can make a difference in the lives of those around you.

We also studied the qualities of God. Think about it: Jehovah Rapha; God that heals. Jehovah Shalom; Lord that is peace. Jehovah Jireh; God will provide. God is everything you could ever need. Ever. This year I experienced an amazing, albeit obvious, realization of how majestic God is. I feel that a lesser recalled feature is the sheer majesty of Jesus. Even a little taste is more than enough to leave me in awe of how strong yet gracious my Savior is. Omnipotent God loves little me. He took the initiative to reach out to me while I rejected Him. What a beautiful, powerful, majestic love!

I am very thankful for TeenPact Survival. It has impacted my life in so many ways including being dedicated to, and motivated for, Christ. So I challenge you to challenge yourself and attend a TeenPact Survival this year or next. Just be careful, you might just find it’s changed your life too.
