My Last TeenPact Event

I was doing something I never thought I would have to do. I was on my way to my last TeenPact event.

As I flew into Richmond I grew slightly discouraged. I started questioning myself about the classes that I had attended and even staffed. “Did I actually “change” anyone’s lives? Had I seriously just spent all the money I had saved for college on TeenPact?  Did I waste all this time and effort doing something that’s not really gonna matter in a couple years? What had I just done with the last couple years of my life?”

Needless to say, I did not arrive at the event with the clearest frame of mind. And yet, God worked on me throughout the week in ways I could not have imagined. The first day of TeenPact Judicial was an overwhelming swirling mess of sitting through lectures, writing a brief on a complicated case, and finding out that everyone had a much higher IQ than I could even dream of. I also found out that I had to prepare arguments for a moot court tournament at the end of the week. It definitely felt like I had bitten off more than I could chew.

In spite of the competition that occurred, students and staff came together. I can’t remember how many times I had people offer to read my brief or listen to my speech and give me advice. It blessed me to be with friends who were willing to take time to help and encourage me.

It was through this that God showed me that TeenPact was never an organization that thought about what “I” accomplished. “I” didn’t need to worry about what sort of influence“I” was able to have with the countless numbers of amazing people I came into contact with. It’s about what God accomplished and the people He brought together for His purposes. It was never about my selfish need to feel like I had done enough or been a blessing to people. It was about what God has done in me and through me. God has been gracious in allowing me to spend this time in TeenPact. I’ve been rewarded in so many ways and have learned so much.

I am truly a blessed person to have had a part in this. Most importantly, God has been glorified. And if that is all I leave TeenPact with, then everything has been worth it.

Titus, like many students, has begun the difficult process of transitioning out of TeenPact. Your time as a student and volunteer with the ministry can be such an incredible opportunity to grow and be a part of God growing young people all around you.

And yet, there comes a time when the Lord calls you to a new season of life. When the Lord calls us, friends, let us follow Him with thanksgiving and faith in our hearts! Titus is a great example for us to follow. Upward and onward!

Do you have a testimony about your experience at a TeenPact event? Send me an email at [email protected]. I would love to hear from you!
